Sometimes I just don't agree

Sometimes the line is a bit fuzzy and I just don't agree, but who am I to say anything, that would just be selfish of me. Adults only, but no one understands that I guess.I can't ever have anything that is just mine.

So much like my mom it's scary!

You read it right, I am more like my mom every day.
I can fall asleep at the drop of a dime any time during the day anywhere, I am sluggish at times feeling like I don't get enough sleep. My mind races at night and I have the most energy at night. I don't like to sleep while others do, I feel like I'm missing out. I constantly have that creative bug to make something, sew something, create, or even just uncover another disaster. I don't like to organize clothes, it's too time consuming.
Mom didn't mind cleaning toilets, I despise it! :)
I'm clingy and caring, angry and opinionated, passionate and religious, will give you my last dime if you really needed it. I love my family and my children more than life itself. I love unconditionally, but I will never be faulted for not telling you how I really feel or how it really is, I am blunt and obvious!
I am, my mother. :) lol

Ahhhh Sunday

What a Sunday. :-)
Anabel dumped a $14 of Moroccan Oil on her head, emptying the entire brand new bottle! UGH!
Got my computer and desk set up in the office again FINALLY. Still have a few boxes to unpack, since Colin has taken over I'm not sure where to put the office stuff. LOL
Every day I'm realizing just how much time we are running out of before School and Fall Sports, we have so much planned and so much to get done that 4 weeks IS NOT ENOUGH!
The pool is calling my name, but work and everything else is more important. Looking through old pictures is a blast though. What did we do w/o digital cameras? lol

Look how young she was! ;-) Time flies!

Ugh

What a mess life is sometimes. It's been one of those days. We had to go pick up our oldest daughter today. She was supposed to be staying at her moms for the next three weeks, however due to some very unfortunate circumstances she is back home for good. A teenagers life is so difficult without stupidity from home that I'm having a hard time understanding why conditional love outweighs the love of your child and unconditional love is NOT part of every parents vocabulary. It was all my parents could do to love us and instill values and morales, I cannot understand how a parent can think any differently or do stupid things to alienate their own children.

Oh my .. it's that time of year again.....

I just sat down and looked at a calendar and realized that it has begun! Today is exactly one month from when the kids go back to school, 3 1/2 weeks from when the kids start Soccer Practice and 3 1/2 weeks until registration. That means, Trystin's last year of elementary school, Savanna's first year of her accelerated program, Kaitlyn's first year of either Soccer or Girl Scouts, whichever she chooses, and back to business! :)

School supplies need to be bought, registration needs to be paid, school clothes need to be gotten, and the cooking and the cleaning and the dusting and the laundry .... Cinderelly Cinderelly ..... LOL

How overwhelmed I suddenly am!!

Tough on the Toes

Well, it's officially been one week since our fearless leader busted his foot/ankle. Seeing him in so much pain has been hard on all of us. Things are piling up as I can't seem to keep up with them, you never realize it truly takes two to get it all done until one is out of commission.
Colin saw the Orthopedic today and the visit did not go as well as we would have liked. The pain in his foot and the constant bruising and swelling is not consistent with JUST torn ligaments and a bad sprain, it's actually proving to be much worse. They have ordered and MRI to look and see just how badly he may have injured the top and left side of his foot as well, which could require surgery and life-changing alterations. It was not fun to watch the doctor push around on Colin's foot, he is so strong and has such a high pain tolerance, to watch him wince in pain because someone was making him, was just too difficult, I was clutching at my purse; had it been plastic it would have been shredded. For now, as we await the MRI and the results, Colin is wearing a plastic boot, stupid half cast has been thrown off, and we are praying for better results.

So, things are very tough on the toes here and we are trying to make the best of it. This evening we swam in the pool again, it's so hot outside, how can you not want to just sit in water. However, that swim means one less thing that got done around the house!

Hmmmmm......

I have a mixture of emotions going on these days, if you know me you'll say quietly, what else is new. :) My mother always told me I thought too fast for my brain to catch up, I think maybe she was right.
Sitting in the ER with Colin yesterday waiting and waiting and waiting reminded me of the last time I was in a hospital room, it was to say goodbye to my father. Many will not like to read this part, but that was truly one of the saddest days of my entire life. I will not give the details, as at first it was all I could do to simply walk into the room where they had been keeping my fathers body until I could get there, I stood at the back of the room and the instant feeling of grief that came over me was tremendous. I will never forget that day. I'm not sure that I have allowed myself to really think about it since, constantly keeping busy and throwing myself into my life and my work and my kids, but sitting with Colin yesterday, brought it all back.
I've always hated hospitals, I learned to respect them since I worked at one for so long, but to this day, I can not go to the 2nd floor of KUH without breaking out into the cold sweats. Coming off of the bridge that connects Wahl Hall to the Main Hospital, turning the corner and seeing Ted, my step father, totally broken down because that is when he just heard what they found when they went in for Mom's hysterectomy. Darn the luck! I will never forget that day either.
I've always said that I've lived through way too much for such a young age, but really, now I just feel old. I'm 31 years old and both of my biological parents have passed. What does that say?
You know what it says, it says that life is too fragile and too darn short worrying about stupid little things, love the one's you have, respect their positions and intentions, understand those who have wronged you, come to grips with reality, and live your life!
My dad used to always say; "Staci, do you believe in your decision?" no matter what it was, he would ask me that. When I would reply Yes, he would say; "Then what does it matter what they think? You live your life to the best that you can, never forget where you came from, make your children happy and move on." Wise words pops!!
I learned unconditional love from the best unconditional loving parents there are.
I'm thankful for my blessings, and sad for the one's I missed out on with my parents.

Oye!!

I am outside watching the kids swim in the pool looking around at all of the things that my wonderful husband does wondering how on earth we will survive with him out of commission for a while.
I can do a lot, but I'm not afraid to admit that he does the majority of the labor intensive things.

The Berger 4th of July, never a dull moment!!

Well, we had an interesting fourth of july. After cleaning the house and Colin finishing up most of the deck, Colin missed the last step coming down off of the neck, bent his right angle about 90' and ended up tearing three ligaments on the outside of his right foot.
We had to rush to the ER.

Thankfully Starr's best friend and our adoptive daughter and her parents came right over and they took care of the rest of the bbq and made sure everyone got fed. WE ARE BLESSED TO HAVE THEM.
We got home a little after 8 where Colin accepted that he wasn't going to be able to shoot off the fireworks and instructed the girls to. They did great, it was a little scary at first, but Starr and Sarah took over and made our evening very fun and colorful.
It was all very interesting. Anabel decided she didn't want the sparkler anymore, so she threw it, LIT, on my lap on top of the other sparklers ... thankfully i had fast reflexes and was able to throw it to the side  before the others lit up on my lap!

Poor Colin, he'll be laid up for at least 2 months, that if he doesn't have to have surgery, he's just not that type of person, he will go crazy!

Happy fourth of july, God bless our armed forces!

Time Flies when you're havin' fun
February 23, 2011

I'm looking at our site and while I have been bad and haven't finished updating it or adding new pictures, I can't help but feel sad. I feel sad b/c I look at these pictures and realize how much each of the kids has grown up. We have been together as a family officially for a year and 8 months, and together (prior to the move) 9 months before that, so 2 years and 4 months all together; and during that time, my children have grown up.
To see their little faces even just a year ago and how much they have changed to today, all I can say is WOW, TIME FLIES WHEN YOU'RE HAVING FUN.
Colin and I are truly blessed, we feel as though we have the greatest children in the world and such a fantastic family. God has given us 5 of the greatest blessings and then another in eachother.
Our kids all have their own relationship with the Lord, their core values encompass Jesus and in our Home you can feel his presence as well, that in itself is a blessing, to know that our children don't have to walk alone, that in each and everything that they do, they will have him by their side, and to know that they truly understand and value that, well, that warms a parent's heart.
I think I'm getting sappier in my old age. :-)
February 23, 2011

On the way to the babysitters house this morning, Anabel and Colin were in the truck, she was being her normal "crazy" self and Colin said to her: "You are crazy." Anabel then turned and smiled sweetly and said, "No you're crazy Homie."
What do you say to that? Nothing, it put a smile on his face and made him a proud Papa the rest of the day as his 2 year old made him laugh.
WOW - It's 2011!!
January 14, 2011

I just looked on here to realize I haven't had a journal entry since October, that is crazy and explains how busy our life has been since then.
Winter has finally set in, and we have not been getting out of the 20's much at all, but when we do, it's like a Heat Wave. :) The kids have millions of pieces of winter gear; this year we have been blessed. :)
The holidays were wonderful for all of us, we had a very brief visit in KC with family and then back home for family time.
All of the kids ended their first semester with OUTSTANDING GRADES. They are a smart bunch, I'm not biased at all. :)
Anabel, I can't believe will be 3 next month. She really enjoyed Christmas this year, she really got into it. Although, she still wants to open up presents, and the baby dolls, oh my, we have them in every corner of the house. :) But, she loves them. She is really growing up fast.
We got to meet the newest member of the Austin family, Gracelynn Austin on Thanksgiving. She is absolutely Beautiful and such a cutie. She makes these cute little squeaking noises when she eats and when she sleeps. And at Christmas, she remembered who we were and every time Uncle Colin or I would hold her, she would talk to us. She's the third cutest baby girl I've ever seen. :) lol Her brother is growing by leaps and bounds too, too old for kisses, just kiss his cheek! :)
It's the 14th of January already, the month is 1/2 over and I don't feel like I have gotten enough accomplished. Business is slow and the economy still stinks, anyone have any get rich quick schemes they would like to share with us? lol
We are looking for 2011 to be the year of changes for us, trusting in the Lord to open doors and show us ever more the way to peace.
Wishing you all many Blessings in 2011!
Savanna's birthday "week" is now officially over. LOL
October 24, 2010

Last weekend, Patti took Savanna and her son Ben to Tulsa to the Aquarium where they got to spend the night Friday night and "sleep with the sharks." They had a blast. I will send pics as soon as I get them from Patti. We then celebrated Savanna's birthday as a family on Sunday and she of course got to open up birthday cards all week long. WHICH, she will be doing her thank you cards this weekend! :)

This Sunday, we had a Halloween Birthday party for her at our house with her friends, they had bobbing for apples, bobbing for jewels, crafts, mummy wrap, running around like crazy kids in the front yard. :) And the list goes on. For whatever reason, today, October 24th it was close to 80 degrees and no rain, so we got to play outside a bit. What a blessing that was!! :)

And of course, through all of this we have had soccer games, soccer practice, Starr's last Volley Ball games and other family events.

This weekend .... rest ... oh wait, that's right, it's Halloween! :) lol

God Bless
My Kids
September 29, 2010

I have always said that my children are what define me, they are my life. How true that statement is, and it hasn't changed since our family has grown either, it has only become even more evident. It's funny, I used to give my step mother a hard time because of the work "step" in front of mom, but I truly disagree with that phrase now. lol
Or at least for those step mothers who have their step children full time as I do. I love my kids, all of them, they all have a special place in my heart and I wouldn't change any of them. They each have different personalities and attitudes, but the one commonality, how true and sweet their spirit is and how they each walk with the lord in their own way. It touches my soul to see them excited and on fire about Jesus, Wednesday nights are the best. Savanna, Trystin & Kaitlyn all go to a youth program where they are is Kiwanis and learning and each night, they come home, ON FIRE about the Lord. What a blessing!
And even though Anabel is too young to attend youth or sunday school (a few more months and she won't be), even Anabel is so in-tune with the Lord, she says our grace at dinner, she has the sweetest bedtime prayer and when you aren't feeling well, she will pray for you!
And then our oldest, had to do a school project, and one of the pieces was to put your family's motto on it, and she wrote: "Just because no one else saw it, doesn't mean Jesus didn't see it." How true is that, and how true is that for our motto in our family! We teach the kids that only the Lord knows their true soul and spirit and what's in their heart, and if they live right, they will have many blessings bestowed upon them.
So tonight, I just want to say Thank you to the Lord for our family, thank you for our family who is not with us all the time but who prays for us and continues to believe in us. With Christ, all things are possible!
Blessings to you all.
Soccer Game Saturday!! :)
September 26, 2010

Well, this Saturday didn't fair as well as the last. Savanna was an awesome goalie during the first half of her game, she really rocked, but then the coach put her in as defender the second half, and well, that meant that we didn't get any points, and her game tied at 0 to 0. Blah!! :)

Trystin's team played a very tough opponent and it showed. We did hold our ground, however lost in the end. Way to go boys, you played your hearts out.

Fall is here, and I LOVE IT! :)
Another week bites the dust ....
September 24, 2010

And another one's gone and another bites the dust. Now I have that song stuck in my head. I'm so happy about that. LOL
Well, it's Friday and I couldn't be more happier for Friday to be here! :) These weeks are just getting busier by the minute. I'm also very excited about cooler temperatures, although, that means that a couple of kiddos will need new clothes! I can tell you, that in that couple, Savanna, Starr & Kaitlyn are NOT included. LOL They have an OVER-ABUNDANCE of clothing for every season.
Little miss Anabel, or Stinkerbell as her babysitter calls her, is growing like a weed. She wore some tennis shoes that her Papa & Brenda had gotten her in the summer and they were too big for her until now. And I put a pair of leggings on her from end of season last spring, and they look like she's waiting for a flood. :) hahaha
Trystin has also hit his growth spurt, about time, he will require some new clothes too or he will be accused of waiting on a flood as well. :) Good times! :)
Soccer is tomorrow - two games, it will be tough as Trystin's game starts at 11:30 and Savanna's starts at 12:00 pm. Thankfully they are at the same place, just different fields. I will miss watching the boys though and Colin will miss watching Savanna. :(
Have I said how grateful I am that it's the weekend. :)
Soccer Season has OFFICIALLY Begun!
September 18, 2010

So, we kicked off the season today with two games. Savanna started the day at 9 a.m. with her first game with opening kick and scoring the first two goals. She did AWESOME! U 9 Galaxy girls team won 11 - 2. WOO HOO!!

Trystin's U 11 Galaxy boys team and their very handsome coach did AWESOME and one their first game 7 - 2. SHUT OUT BABY!! They did awesome and the coach had a nice ice cold shower at the end of the game :) (courtesy of his wife) lol.

The family is excited. Starr is kick'n booty in Volley ball and Anabel and Kaitlyn are AWESOME cheerleaders and huge supporters.

Life is busy in the Berger household, Volley ball practice EVERY DAY after school, two volley ball games a week, soccer practice for both kids on Mondays and Thursdays and games on some Tuesdays and Thursdays and EVERY Saturday. Oh and somehow, we all work and go to school. LOL

Signing off very proud parents this evening, we have been Blessed with the Most Awesome kids EVER!
Yep, it's back to school time!!!!
September 7, 2010

I can always know for sure that the kids are all back in school when we all get sick!! Yep, you guessed it, we all have a cold, some worse than others, but one thing is shared; we all feel like doodoo! :) Ahh, but the world still keeps turning and volleyball, soccer and schedules must go on! :)
SOCCER CONFIRMATION!!
September 1, 2010

We finally got Soccer confirmation for Savanna and Trystin; practice starts this week, games start the weekend of September 18th, with games always on Tuesday evenings and Saturdays through November. WOO HOO!!
Can you say crazy schedule! Starr is in Volley ball season, one to two games a week with daily practices; Trystin and Savanna will practice two nights a week with two games a week, plus all of the kids go to Wednesday Night Live at Church on Wednesdays. Oh my goodness, Lord help me to remember everything. And with one car, this should be interesting!

Colin has been blessed with coaching Trystin's team, which means I get manager duties (yay) lol, and Kaitlyn is trying to get into Girl Scouts and there are no active leaders, do I see that in my future, quite possibly! YIKES! :)

Busy busy busy, but we love every minute of it, as I told Colin, we have no time for anythign else, we have 5 children and that is all the time we have, and then some.

God is Good!
Busy has Returned! :)
August 25, 2010

The kids are almost through their entire first week of school. We had Starr's first season volley ball game on Monday, she plays on both the A & B teams and kicks butt of course (but I'm partial) :).
Savanna and Trystin are still awaiting their soccer schedule, so unorganized, ugh! :)
Kaitlyn and Anabel had an adventure on the stairs last week, you'll see that Kaitlyn got to go to her first day of school with a black eye! Made for a fun day of telling what happened!
Anabel is learning sign language with Patti and attending preschool at church 2 days a week for a couple of hours. Now I have to get a sign language book so I can help her learn correctly.

Savanna is learning the difference in having a male instructor, she really likes him though because he is super science-focused.

The house is busy and swarming again, it's all Colin and I can do to stay on top of things. More to come! ;)

SCHOOL HAS BEGUN!!!
August 19, 2010

It is hard to believe that the beginning of school is already here. The kids have started school as of today. It was tough getting back into the swing of getting up and ready to catch the bus by 7 a.m.; however they were all extremely excited to be going back to school. Ahhh to be young again and to be happy about being in school; those were the days.
Our summer was filled with lots of fun; we didn’t spend as much time out on the lake as we had wanted to; but there is always next year. J
Savanna and Anabel got to spend some time with both sides of the family; Savanna I think turned into a beach girl with her time at Auntie Kelli & Uncle Mike’s pool and Anabel is still talking about swimming. J The girls also got to go with Great Grandma & Grandpa, Auntie Esther, Grammy & Gpa Rick to Little Rock to a family reunion where I hear that Savanna danced the night away and walked on water (not really, just across the Arkansas River, but she says she walked on water). J They had a great time and are still talking about it. J
School:
Starr is in her last year of Middle School, Volley Ball is in full swing and her first game is on Monday. She’s very excited; with choir, volley ball and her honors algebra class, well, she’s going to be a busy little bee!
Trystin is going into the 4th grade, getting ready to start soccer here in a couple of weeks, and excited about his new found sense of being “older” than the girls by 2 grades. Hahaha
Savanna and Kaitlyn are excited to be in 2nd grade, Kaitlyn has Trystin’s 3rd grade teacher Mr. Fulton, which is awesome because we know we can count on him to spend the extra time with Kaitlyn that she needs a little push in the reading department. Savanna has Mr. Northfell, and she is very excited b/c this will be her first male teacher. He complimented Savanna on her reading at “meet your teacher” night and said that he is going to be challenging her because he heard she is excelling in that department.
Anabel, well what to say about the little whiz Anabel, she is growing so fast and becoming so smart. She is very outspoken and always the center of attention J.
With the start of school brings a sense of “busy” as if we weren’t before; however now it’s meaningful again. We are down to one vehicle in the house and that is proving to be a challenge as Colin and I try to work around each others’ schedule to make sure that everything gets done, darn those transmissions! J BUT WITH THE START OF SCHOOL MEANS FALL and cooler temperatures, praise the Lord!! J
This is our 2nd fall in our house and I love all of the trees; the kids play outside and the air is so clean and crisp.
Colin and I are really looking forward to all of the kids activities; with the school year brings the internet again, so I will be keeping the pictures updated and blogs current. Keep in touch. God Bless.
Where did the summer go????????
August 14, 2010

I cannot believe that the summer is almost over. The kids all go back to school on Thursday, August 19th, how crazy is that!
This summer has been nuts, last week i spent almost the entire week traveling for my new job. That was tiring! Got to see some great sights, experienced the work rental car process (what a mess) and see Louisville Kentucky for exactly 24 hours. lol
School shopping and dentist appointments for all on Monday, woo hoo.
I will post pics from this summer soon as well as the new "what's going on" in the house.
Soccer starts too -- we are all looking forward to that, especially since Colin will be coaching both Trystin and Savanna's teams. Woah, look out!
Gotta Love Summer
June 25, 2010

Last night, after the kids and I got done working outside, three of them weeding in the garden and Savanna and I hoeing and tearing up weeds by the house (Anabel was supervising the whole time of course); I got the garden hose and sprayed the kids. It was great, they didn't expect me to do it b/c we were all fully clothed and it was so out of the ordinary for me! :) They even said; "but we have our clothes on." lol
We had a blast, played in the water for about 15 minutes and then went inside, shedding the wet clothes on the deck and proceeding to dinner. :)
Gotta Love Summer, it's the little things, playing in the front lawn with a garden hose and the kids. Gotta love it!
Now we just need a waterproof digital camera so that I can capture those moments!!
Ever swam with a 120+lb Great Dane??????
June 24, 2010

Yes, it's as scary and as funny as it sounds. Last night, we all went swimming, Colin showed us this great place, takes about 15 minutes to get to, but there was no one else there and the water was really clear. We took Apollo with us, who is quickly approaching his 1st birthday, but is as big as a 3 year old dog. He is every bit of 120 maybe even more lbs!!
Apollo has only been swimming one other time, and it turned out badly for mommy! He got very frightened and ended up clawing my left arm and the left part of my chest, I looked like I'd been in a fight with a wild animal.
Well, last night, he decided he was feeling a whole lot better about the situation, and therefore decided to play with the kids and their life jackets, uh, not w/o warning, he doesn't realize just how BIG he REALLY is! After scaring Savanna and trying to go after the others to PLAY, we decided Daddy got to be his playmate, and Apollo LOVED it.
Since he is a bigger dog, and Dane's are not known to be EXCELLENT swimmers, he would kind of panic a bit, but since he is so big, when his back feet would touch the bottom he would think he could just flap his front feet and be on his way, when in reality all that did was spin him in circles and make him go with the current. HILARIOUS!!
After we all learned to keep our distance a bit and Apollo understood that he couldn't play with the kids in the water, we had a grand time, and Apollo got some MUCH NEEDED exercise!
Lesson for the day; the bigger the dog, the bigger the baby! :) hahaha
End of June?????????????
June 21, 2010

I can not believe that the end of June is next week, where has the time gone? The kids have been out of school for only two weeks tomorrow, and yet, July is just around the corner. ABSOLUTELY crazy!!
The kids all finished the school year with GLOWING REVIEWS! We are very proud of all of them and their academic achievements.
The last week and a half they have been out of school they have still continued to read and keep up their skills.
We have been out on the lake and in the boat, we are really enjoying summer.
This week is Vacation Bible School, and the kids were really looking forward to going, hope they still feel the same way after their first day today :).

That's it. I'm making a rule, if your alarm clock does not say 7:00 am, you can not come out of your room!
June 10, 2010

Yep, you read right. I will be setting all of the kids alarm clocks tonight. I already told them this morning, that if your alarm clock does not say 7 a.m., from now on, you have to stay in your room. They get up at 6 or 6:15 and run, stomp and giggle around the house waking everyone else up, no matter what day of the week it is! It must stop. :) hahahaha
Summer Vacation is FINALLY Here .....
June 9, 2010

And the kids all rejoice! The last day of school was yesterday and they are SOOOOOOOO happy! All four of the older kids did wonderfully in school, all passing, of course, and receiving excellent marks in all of their subjects. Of course Savanna - the spelling bee champ has been excited after receiving her football prize and throwing it at everyone she can! :)
Today was their first day off, and on Monday they chose to not do any chores, to save them all up for today while they were at home. So, I left a long list of chores for them to keep them busy.
Starr has a month off of volleyball, but has to work out to keep in shape for it, she's pretty happy about that. I told her I'd work out with her but we'd have to do it in the mornings. We will see, I'm hopeful I can keep up. lol
Last weekend was our first official weekend out on the boat and swimming, gotta love Beaver Lake, everyone enjoys it. This weekend we will have Colin's Step Brother Matthew down, he's 10; and we plan on going out on the boat and tubing, the kids are "uber" excited about that!
The summer calendar is already full, me the master planner, hopefully has it all organized, but as Colin always says; "things change Staci, you just have to make room."
Anabel says the funniest things :)
May 13, 2010

Last night I gave her a cheese stick, and she said, clear as day; "I need to sit at the table to eat this."
ALMOST THERE! :)
April 27, 2010

Anabel is almost 100% potty trained. She stays dry all day, tells you when she has to go, and has been staying dry at night even with a diaper, until last night of course. The one night I don't put a diaper on her.
I can't believe she is such a big girl! Amazing how time flies when you're having fun!

We are LOVING the nice weather. Our garden is planted, flowers are in bloom and the reflection pond is almost ready!
I'm a Big Girl Now!!!
April 7, 2010

Yep, that's right. Anabel is officially in panties for the majority of the day. She stays dry and runs to the restroom when she needs to potty. She has stayed dry at night too, even waking up at 5 a.m. to go to the restroom, however we are still putting diaper on at night as a precaution. :)
I can't believe she is old enough to wear panties!! WOW! Where has time gone.

I also can not believe it is April!! OH MY GOODNESS!
We are so busy right now with end of school things and church, etc.

ALways on the go!

Hope you are all blessed, we sure feel blessed to have eachother!!
Holy cow it's March!
March 3, 2010

I can not believe how time is flying by. It's March!! That is ABSOLUTELY crazy. We are so looking forward to spring though and being able to plant in our garden and go out on the lake again. WOO HOO!
Anabel's 2nd birthday (seems like she got a 2nd birthday month) was great. She is really growing up so fast. We are going to buy her bed this weekend and she will be officially a big girl in a big girl bed. I will post pictures.
I haven't been feeling the best and she has just been so cute, putting her hand on my head like I do her when she doesn't feel well and praying for me.
The kids are all restless and ready to play outside. I'm a stickler, I won't let them play outside even though the sun is shining, it is still too darn cold, and with as much sickness as we have had in this house this winter, no way jose'!
Our home computer is back up and running and I promise to get some updated photos on here. We also have our home webcam and microphone up, so anyone who has one, let us know, get on yahoo instant messenger and we can video chat, very cool! Uncle Mike was our first candidate and it was a lot of fun!!
Parent/Teacher Conferences
February 11, 2010

All of the kids ACED their parent teacher conferences.
Kaitlyn has really improved and is now excelling well-beyond 1st grade, Trystin is doing so well he doesn't even need a conference, Savanna's school-work is excellent and is excelling well-beyond 1st grade, has a few attitude issues once-in-a-while, but we are working on that, and Starr is a straight A with an occasional B in pre-algebra, but only in 7th grade and excelling in that as well!!

Colin and I feel very blessed and fortunate to have such wonderful kids!!
Pheww.... What a couple of weeks :)
February 10, 2010

It has been crazy around our house, although I can't really tell you when it is NOT busy around our house. :)
We have been getting snow and ice, not as much as our family in KC, but enough to shut this town down. The kids had ANOTHER snow day yesterday, which puts them at a total of 8 for the school year and well, now they will be going to school well into June! Colin and I think they should go on Saturdays!
Not much else is new or going on. Anabel is still potty training, we have switched over to pull ups all of the time except at night. She no longer gets a cup for nap time or for night time, she is working on adjusting to that, but for the first time in a few days w/o her cup, she very nicely put it in the fridge then went to bed w/o crying. She woke up a couple of times whiny but went right back to sleep. She's getting there. :) She is also very fond of her fan/heater on in her room b/c she ordered me to turn it on before she would go to sleep last night. I can't believe that she is going to be 2 at the end of the month.
Savanna, Trystin & Kaitlyn are all doing awesome, missing the sledding in the snow, but still doing well. :) They of course have their moments with each other when it's time to go play by ourselves for a while, but then, what siblings aren't like that. Shoot there was a time when Rob and I couldn't even be in the same room with one-another without arguing or hitting the other. LOL
Starr, well, Starr is growing up so quickly! Boys are in our near future, I can tell. :) She's doing great though, couldn't ask for a better teenager!
Looking forward to going to KC this weekend to spend some adult time with my siblings, darn shame we have to celebrate the sadness of my 30th birthday, but, any excuse to be with them works for me.
Have a great week.

An awesome day of sledding.
January 30, 2010

Check out the pictures and some of the videos below. It started raining/sleeting Thursday after we were all safe and sound at home. It snowed ALL day on Friday, no school of course, and after it was all said and done this morning, we had about 5 or 6 inches of the best powdery snow you could ask for. Perfect for sledding, and boy did we all have fun! :) Mommy was too chicken to do much, so she just took all of the pictures, but Daddy was one of the biggest kids out there. LOL

Tomorrow we will make a snowman.

Anabel enjoyed playing in her snow as well, she even liked her ONE AND ONLY ride on the sled. LOL

Stay Warm, we are! :)
Honor Roll!!!
January 28, 2010

We are very pleased and proud to announce that Starr Ann Berger made the 2nd Quarter Honor Roll at Kirksey Middle School for her 3.596 GPA! YAY. You go girl!

Savanna & Trystin got all S's on their 2nd quarter report cards and Kaitlyn's we haven't seen yet, but are sure that it is just as good. :)

Here's to keep'n up the good grades!! :)

Sick in the Austin/Berger household
January 27, 2010

Well, inevitably, we got it AGAIN! :) I say it was what we ate Monday night, Colin says it was a weird bug, but the lovely 8 - hour flu or food poisoning hit me Monday night/into Tuesday morning, hit Savanna Tuesday morning, Kaitlyn Tuesday afternoon, Trystin late Tuesday night and Starr Wednesday morning. Anabel, thankfully I think really just had the aches and only complained that her body hurt. However, was back to her "Anabel middle name PAIN Lorraine" self, as I call her because she unknowingly always inflicts pain on me. lol

Potty training is progressing, we stayed dry for 4 hours last night and told us every time we had to "potty." The teachers at school told Colin that she is the best of her age group and goes to the potty every time she is placed on it. WOO HOO!

Tonight would normally be Wednesday Night Live at Church for the kids, however with all the sickies, we will be skipping this week. There is supposed to be quite a storm coming here starting tomorrow, so we will prep for that as well.

Just another day in paradise! :)

Smarty Pants Anabel
January 24, 2010

Ok, so we are ending our lovely family dinner. Everyone has a nice scoop of ice cream. Colin is watching football. The kids were counting and out of the blue, someone said 7, and low and behold, my almost 2-year old finishes with "8, 9, 10, 11."
I couldn't believe my years and about yanked my head and neck off looking at her.
We tested it again, and SHE CAN COUNT TO 11 on her own! CRAZY!!

Oh she's growing so fast!

Going Back to Work
January 24, 2010

Well, I officially went back to work last week. The kids seemed to fair ok with Mr. Mom after school. :) I get the kids up and ready in the morning, on the bus, get myself ready and then drop Anabel off at school and get to work by 8:15 - 8:30. Colin then picks up Anabel from school and meets the others as they get off of the bus.
Dinner isn't quite ready by 6 anymore, but we're making it work.
Church choir, dinner and youth group is on Wednesday nights and the kids are really liking that. Gives Anabel some alone time with us as well.
Life in the Austin/Berger household is wonderful, there is never a dull moment and it's not quite until about 9 p.m., but we love it! :)
Wishing you many blessings!

FireWorks

It's amazing that the fourth of july is already here. It's absolutely crazy to think that we are in the 7th month of 2011. Time has flown by and with each passing day, life is more and more blessed.
