Tough on the Toes

Well, it's officially been one week since our fearless leader busted his foot/ankle. Seeing him in so much pain has been hard on all of us. Things are piling up as I can't seem to keep up with them, you never realize it truly takes two to get it all done until one is out of commission.
Colin saw the Orthopedic today and the visit did not go as well as we would have liked. The pain in his foot and the constant bruising and swelling is not consistent with JUST torn ligaments and a bad sprain, it's actually proving to be much worse. They have ordered and MRI to look and see just how badly he may have injured the top and left side of his foot as well, which could require surgery and life-changing alterations. It was not fun to watch the doctor push around on Colin's foot, he is so strong and has such a high pain tolerance, to watch him wince in pain because someone was making him, was just too difficult, I was clutching at my purse; had it been plastic it would have been shredded. For now, as we await the MRI and the results, Colin is wearing a plastic boot, stupid half cast has been thrown off, and we are praying for better results.

So, things are very tough on the toes here and we are trying to make the best of it. This evening we swam in the pool again, it's so hot outside, how can you not want to just sit in water. However, that swim means one less thing that got done around the house!

  1. Enjoy life hun! The stuff "to get done" will get done when it gets done, treasure the little things!
I remember my mom, dad and I having a "go to hell" day; as my dad called it. Hell with housework, chores, dishes, etc....
He(my dad) would take us out to breakfast, then to "TSC"(tractor type store where he always bought his overalls, dog meds, grass seed(NO, not THAT kind! lol), etc, bumming around the mall(for me) and then to "JoAnne fabrics"(for my mom) then we would pick up dinner somewhere or order out and just watched tv the rest of the night.
See it's little things like that that your family will remember. Not things like,"Oh my mom always kept the house spotless, she was always organized, etc....
    Smile!!!
    (((hugs)))
